Giovanni Grevi
Senior Associate Fellow

Giovanni Grevi is a Senior Associate Fellow of the European Policy Centre, where he previously headed the Europe in the World programme.

He focuses on the evolution of the international order and multilateralism, the foreign policy of the U.S. and other major powers and how the EU can advance its interests and values in a challenging strategic context. Giovanni has developed innovative projects and published extensively on EU foreign and security policy, strategic affairs, global governance, US foreign policy, foresight and EU politics and institutions.

Before joining the EPC in 2016, he was Director of the Foundation for International Relations and External Dialogue (FRIDE), where he led work on the EU’s partnerships with key global and regional actors and on long-term priorities for Europe’s role in the world. Before that, he served as a Senior Research Fellow at the EU Institute for Security Studies (EUISS). In that capacity, he carried out major team projects on the long-term trends shaping Europe’s strategic context and on the evolution of Europe’s security and defence policy. Prior to that, he was Associate Director of Studies at the EPC, covering EU institutional reform and EU foreign policy.

Giovanni holds an MSc in European Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a PhD in International Relations from the Université Libre de Bruxelles. He teaches European foreign policy and international relations at the College of Europe in Bruges and at Sciences Po in Paris, and is a Senior Associate Fellow of the Istituto per gli Studi di Political Internazionale (ISPI) in Milan.
