The priorities of the Slovak Presidency of the Council

1 June 2016

On 1 July 2016, Slovakia will assume the presidency of the Council of Ministers for the first time since it became member of the EU. The Slovak Presidency will have to deal with a number of ongoing crises, such as the migration/refugee crisis, rising Euroscepticism and fragmentation between and within member states as well as the possible consequences of the UK referendum. At this Breakfast Policy Briefing, Miroslav Lajčák, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, talked about the upcoming presidency’s priorities and how they plan to address the many problems the EU is struggling with.
