PeaceGame 2017

On 5 and 6 March 2017, Andrea Frontini participated in the 2017 edition of PeaceGame, organised by the 'Foreign Policy' magazine in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The event convened leading thinkers in national security policy, international affairs, academia, business, and media to 'game' out how to bring seemingly intractable conflicts to a peaceful conclusion. This year's theme was 'How a Changing Washington Could Affect Key Middle East Issues'. 

Third annual European Migration Forum

Marco Funk attended the third annual European Migration Forum at the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) in Brussels on 2 and 3 March, 2017. Participants discussed a wide range of migration challenges and provided recommendations in various workshops and interactive debates. 

EU-China expert-to-expert discussion on digital economy
1 March 2017

On 1 and 2 March, Iva Tasheva participated in a EU-China expert-to-expert discussion on the digital economy in Leuven. The event was part of a series of debates on the economic consequences of cybersecurity policies and success factors for the successful development of the digital economy, and is funded by the Partnership Instrument of the Service for Foreign Policy Instruments (FPI) of the European Commission. 

The EU’s neighbourhood: how to stabilise the ring of fire?

Giovanni Grevi spoke at a conference organised by the Jacques Delors Institute – Notre Europe addressing the EU’s approach towards the regions surrounding the Union. He focused on the challenges of stabilisation and the role of security sector reform in that context. 

EU-Japan relations
25 February 2017

Fabian Zuleeg, Chief Executive of the EPC, participated in a high-level programme organised for him by the Japanese government, taking place from 20 to 25 February 2017 in Tokyo. The programme provided him with the opportunity to deepen his knowledge about Japan, through exchange of views with researchers, businesses and officials, as well as providing the Japanese interlocutors with analysis on the situation in Europe, including the impact of Brexit and views on EU-Japan relations, specifically the Strategic Partnership and the possibility of an Economic Partnership Agreement. The EPC will use this input in its work, aiming to provide an objective review of current challenges and future prospects of bilateral cooperation between the EU and Japan in a variety of policy areas, notably in the economic and external relations domains, also in the light of transforming regional and global challenges.
