EU60: Refounding Europe

Janis Emmanouilidis and Fabian Zuleeg spoke at the Italian Foreign Ministry Conference 'EU60: Refounding Europe' in Rome, organised by the Instituto Affari Internazionale, on the 60th anniversary of the Rome Treaty and the future of European integration. Janis Emmanouilidis also provided one of the background papers on differentiated integration, which was discussed at the conference. 


Industrial policy in France and in the EU

Robin Huguenot-Noël moderated a debate on the future of industrial policy in France and in Europe in Saint-Dié-des-Vosges (France). This debate featured Christian Pierret, former French Minister in charge of industrial policy and innovation, and Philippe Latorre, portfolio manager at Activa capital, an investment fund dedicated to mid-sized French companies.

Fabian Zuleeg participated in Northern Sparsely Populated Areas (NSPA) and Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) follow-up Forum at the Swedish Representation to the EU in Brussels, where he spoke about the state of the Union. 


Investment plan and focus on human capital

Robin Huguenot-Noël spoke at a working meeting with Jyrki Katainen, Vice-President of the European Commission, responsible for growth, jobs, investment and competitiveness, organised on 10 March 2017 by the European Political Strategy Centre (EPSC). This discussion with selected experts and stakeholders aimed at taking stock on the European Fund for Strategic Investment (EFSI) prior to the debate on its possible extension (EFSI 2.0) in the European Parliament. Robin's contribution built upon recent EPC publications including 'Rethinking the EU’s investment strategy: EFSI 2.0 needs a Social Pillar to address economic insecurity' and "Social Investment First! A pre-condition for a modern Social Europe".
