Irina Popescu is a Programme Assistant at the Sustainable Prosperity for Europe Programme (SPfE). She supports the SPfE team’s work on climate, energy, circular economy, just transition, Green Deal and environmental policies.

Prior to joining the EPC, she gained professional experience as a Research Assistant in a Brussels-based Think Tank specialising on agricultural policy where she monitored policy developments related to the Common Agricultural Policy, Farm to Fork Strategy, Biodiversity Strategy and Green Deal, as well as conceptualising and drawing up a large-scale project focusing on food insecurity and sustainable protein crops in Sub-Saharan Africa.

She holds an MSc in International Development Studies and a BA in Postcolonial Studies and Human Geography.
