Strengthening transatlantic dialogue on the digital economy will be a key geopolitical objective in the face of global competitionparticularly from China. The EU and the United States have pledged to engage more closely through the envisaged EU-US Trade and Technology Council (TTC), which is expected to promote digital policy convergence and common standards around emerging technologies
This roundtable will focus on current plans for the creation of the TTC, the state of play on EU-US approaches to promoting growth and fairness in digital markets, and identify areas where joint EU-US action is needed to design policies that can increase EU-US leverage and norm-setting power in the global digital economy. The discussion will take place under the Chatham House rule.
