Increasing the efficiency of the public sector in Europe - forum meeting

EVENT
Tuesday, 14 May 2013

In times of economic crisis and limited public resources, public services are going through tremendous reforms which aim to reduce government expenditures across Europe. However, European citizens have already raised concerns about the impact of such changes and are worried to see any cost reduction strategies which may threaten values such as equality of access and fairness. In this context, increasing the efficiency of public services, as well as establishing a correct performance measurement, has become a priority on current policy agendas. In this Economic Policy Forum, experts discussed successful examples of reforms, which have considerably enhanced the productivity and the efficiency of public services, and debated the extent to which good practices in some member states can be applied in other countries.
