Why the EU should end subsidies for the livestock sector?

Annika Hedberg gave a presentation  about the EU’s agricultural policy, and the related economic, climate, environment and health implications at Vegemessut in Helsinki, Finland. She focused especially on the controversies and costs related to supporting livestock farming, and as the EU budget negotiations are ongoing, made a case for investing taxpayers’ money to provide added value for the EU and its citizens and help to address rather than exacerbate the EU’s challenges.

The Strategic Agenda and Social Europe

Upon request of the Clingendael Institute, Claire Dhéret wrote a short paper reflecting on the outcomes and impact of the 2014 Strategic Agenda with respect to Social Europe. She also analyses the position of the Netherlands on social related issues over the 2014-2019 politico-institutional cycle and presents how the social priorities of the next Sibiu Agenda are likely to look like.


Migration – Experiences and Realities in Ghana
20 January 2019

Marie De Somer participated in a one-week expert workshop on migration in Accra, Ghana. The workshop, organised by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, looked at the different ways in which EU cooperation with African states on migration works and could be improved.
