Global trade governance: the WTO at a crossroads

4 December 2006

As efforts continue to try to revive the World Trade Organization’s Doha Development Round, this Working Paper by Rorden Wilkinson, Raimund Raith, Robert Howse and Kalypso Nicolaidis highlights just how much is at stake in the negotiations. It includes a detailed examination of the WTO’s dispute settlement mechanism which, in the absence of a deal, might become the ‘forum of choice’ for playing out trade conflicts in the future.
