Europe in the World

Governance - made in Africa

5 August 2005

The problems of Africa are well known - the lack of good governance, the endemic conflicts, the appalling poverty, the lack of educational opportunities and the catastrophic health situation. This issue paper, which was initially prepared for a recent conference organised by the EPC and several partners on governance in Africa, examines the EU’s contribution to Africa and urges it to play a greater role in supporting regional integration, development and good governance.
