The EPC has selected Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) for the second regranting opportunity under the ELEVATED Project to carry out activities on the topic of disinformation.

The EPC’s Project ‘Dialogue on disinformation ahead of the 2024 European elections’ has selected Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) – a leading Italian think tank for international politics – for the second regranting opportunity under the ELEVATED Project, sponsored by the European Commission's Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values Programme (CERV).

IAI will organise activities around the EPC’s Task Force on Disinformation with the objective of studying disinformation in a cross-disciplinary fashion.

The Project aims to:

  1. Identify challenges and risks posed by disinformation, relating to the war in Ukraine, its origins and consequences, ahead of the European parliamentary elections;
  2. Produce knowledge and understanding about joint efforts to counter disinformation in these realms;
  3. Organise and facilitate a strategic dialogue among decision-makers, experts, policymakers, and stakeholders, including representatives of youth associations within EU member states.

Alberto-Horst Neidhardt, Head of the EPC’s European Migration and Diversity programme, said, “we are excited to launch this partnership with IAI, which will give us the opportunity to bring together our respective expertise on disinformation and examine its impact on public discourse in Europe in a crucial year marked by many elections at the national level as well as the upcoming EP elections”.
