This edition’s Special Focus discusses the renewed momentum in the fight against racism in Europe following the Black Lives Matter protests in June. Civil society voices have revealed the persistent challenges regarding police violence, discrimination and historical racism in the continent. Responses to calls for action, however, have so far been tepid. Other key highlights of this Policy Update include the upcoming EU budget and specific needs in the area of migration and integration, the rise in crossings in the English Channel, and the humanitarian emergency following the fire in the Moria camp in Lesbos. The Closer Look section is written by the Migrant Rights Centre Ireland.
