The EPC’s ‘Health State of the Union’ CHES Policy Dialogue reflected on the priorities of health policies at the European level. Among many health aspects that the EU is engaged in, an overriding challenge for health policy in 2016 will be the sustainability of health systems in the context of increasing costs and demographic developments. A panel of health experts and policy makers explored this question of sustainability as well as other factors affecting health policy at the EU level. The Dialogue was chaired by Hans Martens Chair of CHES; Senior Advisor, European Policy Centre (EPC).
The Social Europe and Well-being Programme (SEWB) is dedicated to achieving a stronger Social Europe fit to address the social, environmental, economic and political challenges facing the Union today. It focuses on policies that prioritise strong and resilient healthcare systems; modern and inclusive labour markets; eradicating inequalities; investing in the health and well-being of people; making European welfare states and social protection systems fit for the future.
