EVENT
After the adoption of the reforms to the Common European Asylum System (CEAS) in 2024, the EU migration and asylum agenda remains marked by ambitious goals and urgent priorities. These are reinforced not least by political pressures across Europe and major geopolitical shifts in the EU’s neighbourhood and beyond. Against this background, the European Policy Centre is pleased to invite you to a hybrid Policy Briefing with the European Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration, Magnus Brunner.
This event will unpack the main opportunities and challenges for advancing the EU’s migration and asylum agenda. How can the EU leverage migration policy to increase its economic competitiveness and better attract and retain foreign talent in the face of demographic change? What are the expectations regarding the implementation of the reformed CEAS and the revision of the return framework, currently under negotiation? Considering increased fiscal pressure, how can the current and future EU budget best support the implementation of internal priorities and international partnerships?
The event will begin with a keynote speech by Commissioner Brunner, followed by a conversation with Alberto-Horst Neidhardt, Head of the EPC’s European Migration and Diversity Programme, and a Q&A with the audience.
Participation is open to EPC members only, the media, and EU officials.
