Self-employed consultant position
The European Policy Centre (EPC) is looking for an Editor for the planning, proofreading, editing, and overall management of the think tank’s publications and digital presence. The Editor will be part of the Communications and Events team and report directly to the Associate Director for Strategic Communication.
Requirements:
- University degree in journalism, political science, or another relevant field
- 5 or more years of experience editing and proofreading English language texts on EPC-relevant themes, and in managing print and on-line publications
- Familiarity with EU policy communication, preferably in a think tank setting
- Extensive experience using AI to assist with editing. Experience creating AI agents is a strong advantage
- Native English speaker or native-level competence is essential.
Key competencies/abilities:
- Grasp and “translate” detailed policy analysis into (English) language that is tailored to specific EPC audiences and (AI) search optimisation
- Ensure accuracy, attention to detail, and strict respect of agreed deadlines
- Be a strong team player in a multicultural and fast-paced non-profit organisation
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite, newsletter and CRM software, as well as media monitoring and other communication tools
- Significant experience with print layouts, graphic design (Adobe Suite), data visualisation, online publishing, and website management, including analytics.
Main responsibilities:
- Manage and prioritise the production of online and print publications, with overlapping deadlines, in coordination with authors, a pool of external editors and graphic designers, and occasionally printers. This includes cost assessments and procurement tasks.
- Edit, proofread and occasionally draft all EPC print and online texts (besides social media posts), event invitations and weekly newsletters, including visual selection and/or creation, cross-checking and harmonising references
- Lead the production of the bi-annual Brussels Economic Security Review
- Ensure the use of the EPC writing guidelines, including through updates, improvements and trainings
- Assist the team with the broader EPC Communication Strategy and additional tasks.

The successful candidate is expected to start as soon as possible, ideally in September. Interviews will take place online (or in person in Brussels) as early as possible in August.
