From Research to Policy: New Perspectives on EU Migration
As EU asylum reforms come fully into effect and the European Commission launches its first five-year strategy on migration - covering issues such as return and partnerships with third countries - EU migration policy is entering a decisive phase. At the same time, migration debates across the EU remain deeply politicised and divisive. Geopolitical instability and broader global transformations add further complexity, increasing the need for forward-looking dialogue and evidence-informed policies.
This joint project involving European Policy Centre, Studio Europa Maastricht and Maastricht University aims to strengthen the exchange between experts and policymakers, and to both support and challenge decision-making through high-quality research. The project will produce a Policy Brief Collection on EU Migration Policy authored by experts from Maastricht University, the EPC, and external contributors. Alongside the publication series, two events will bring together authors, EU officials, national representatives, think tanks and civil society actors to discuss key developments and future directions in EU migration policy.
