Turkey - Ready for the EU?

With the European Commission expected to recommend that the EU open accession negotiations with Turkey, Amanda Akçakoca, Fraser Cameron and Eberhard Rhein argue the case for seeing Turkey’s accession in positive terms. In a personal commentary they point to its geo-political significance in the region and insist that the problems Turkey’s accession may pose – given both its size and its relative poverty – are capable of being resolved.
