The world after Warsaw: What prospects for achieving a global climate agreement by 2015?

5 December 2013

The 19th United Nations Conference on Climate Change, held in Warsaw on 11-22 November, saw serious debate over the roadmap to Paris, funding and responsibility sharing. Extensive discussion is needed among the G20 major economies to develop a common understanding on how to take matters forward, and an EU pledge to cut emissions by 40% by 2030 would not be sufficient, heard participants in this EU-Asia Policy Panel. Speakers included: Artur Runge-Metzer, Director for International and Climate Strategy, DG Climate Action, European Commission; Run Wang, Professor, Institute of Urban Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Abetnego Tarigan, Director, WALHI-Friends of the Earth Indonesia; and Delia Villagrassa, Senior Advisor on Climate Change Diplomacy, European Climate Change Foundation.
