In June 2022, Moldova received EU candidate country status. If the country adequately meets the nine criteria laid down by the European Commission, the EU could green-light the opening of accession negotiations with Moldova at the European Council summit in December 2023.
This in-person Policy Briefing will assess Moldova’s progress so far and the remaining challenges. It will also consider the impact that Russia’s war on Ukraine has had on Moldova and how to further strengthen its resilience. Lastly, the speakers will reflect on the key takeaways from the second Summit of the European Political Community - the largest international event in Moldova’s history – which took place in Chisinau on 1 June.
Participation is open to EPC members and invitees of the Mission of the Republic of Moldova to the EU only, the media, and EU officials.
