This Post-Summit Briefing analysed the outcome of the European Council Summit on 17-18 October and look ahead to what’s next.

The discussion was dominated by Brexit and the draft withdrawal agreement between the UK and the EU negotiated shortly before the start of the Summit. Speakers also 

reflected on the EU Strategic Agenda 2019-2024 and Commission President-elect Ursula von der Leyen's political priorities, as well as the lack of a consensus on the opening of accession negotiations with Albania and North Macedonia.
