Prospects for EU-Turkey economic cooperation in 2018

After years of stable growth, the Turkish economy has entered a challenging period, as result of both internal and external developments. Pushing ahead with important structural reform is crucial to boost the country’s economic performance, as is strengthening economic ties with its partners, including the EU.

At this Briefing, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Şimşek gave a detailed overview of the key priorities and challenges facing the Turkish economy and the government’s plans to address these issues. He also discussed the latest developments in Turkey-EU economic cooperation, including on the modernisation of the Turkey-EU Customs Union.
