At this on-line Briefing, Fabian Zuleeg, EPC Chief Executive, will assess the state of play of the EU-UK negotiations following EU leaders’ video summit scheduled to take place on 19 November, in conversation with EPC Policy Analyst Jannike Wachowiak, who will moderate the discussion.

Trade talks between the EU and the UK are continuing in Brussels this week but major differences remain, especially on key areas such as the level playing field and fisheries. With time running out to agree and ratify a future relationship deal, the European Council video conference summit this Thursday is seen as a decisive moment to assess whether both sides can strike a deal. Given the state of negotiations, we will discuss the outcome of the summit and whether there are any signs of a deal, or whether the two sides will find themselves at an impasse facing a no-deal scenario. We will explore the short and long-term effects of a no-deal scenario and what the outcome is likely to mean for the long-term EU-UK relationship.
