Enabling EU citizens to lead healthy, active and independent lives until old age, would help the EU to tackle the challenges and enjoy the benefits related to demographic change. In this Policy Brief Annika Ahtonen considers the challenges on the way and suggests how the newly launched European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing could deliver on this aim.
