EU-Georgia Economic Relations: Achievements & Challenges - Roundtable

EPC, in collaboration with the EU-Georgia Business Council (EUGBC) discussed a number of key issues including the increasing geostrategic importance of Georgia, the investment climate in the country, and  key changes made to a number of laws that now make it easier for foreign companies to invest in Georgia; developments with the EU including talks on an Association Agreement which were launched in July, progress towards the launching of talks on the Deep Free Trade Agreement and developments towards visa facilitation.  The meeting also looked at the new Eurochambres East-Invest Programme which aims at developing cooperation and ties between SME’s in the EU and the six eastern partnership countries.

Speakers included: Howard Chase, Chairman of the EU-Georgia Board and Director of European Government Affairs, BP; Nick Gvinadze, Member of the EU-Georgia Business Council; Dirk Vantyghem, Director, International Affairs, Eurochambres and David Solomonia, Deputy Chief of the Mission of Georgia to the EU.
