From Tokyo to the region: EU opportunities and priorities after the summit with Japan
Brussels needs results, and it's counting on Tokyo to deliver them. The beginning of 2026 is a good time to review this issue in relation to last year. In July 2025, the European Union held two key summits with Asia: first Japan, then China. The order was not accidental. The EU was seeking to consolidate progress in Tokyo that would allow it to face the anticipated clash with Beijing with greater resolve.
