A new round of talks is being prepared between Washington and Tehran in Pakistan. How did Islamabad become the main player in the negotiation process? The following is a commentary by Rajnish Singh, a long-time journalist and expert at the Centre for European Policy. Tsvetana Balabanova talks to him.
Pakistan has surprisingly emerged as a mediator in the war between the US and Iran. "From one day to the next, the terrorist pariah has shaken off his isolation."
"There are many young consumers who would really like to buy great European quality products. Be it cars, luxury goods, clothes or anything else. Europe cannot afford to be left out of such a market," said Rajnish Singh, an analyst at the EPC think tank.
"India understands that Russian technology is not as good as European technology. Secondly, Russia is not a good supplier - there have been supply problems with weapons. Thirdly, India wants to develop and produce more weapons. This is a key issue. Made in India is Modi's big selling point," Singh said
